[The knock on her door was hesitant and only came once. Footsteps could be heard stepping away and then back to the door as Edgar debated rather or not he should stay and wait for her to open it.

Surely there was no reason to go. He had on his best suit, he had a gift of cake and flowers, and a smile on his face. But what if it was the wrong suit? Was the cut really that flattering?

And what would Lydia do with flowers? She could hardly carry them around with her. She was a practical girl, wasn't she? No, he had moved too early. He should have thought this through more.

But indecision kept him in place, giving her a chance to answer his knock.]

[ Lydia figures something must be up, so she makes her way to the door rather quickly. Because there's no way Edgar would come knocking on her door just to harass her or anything.

She opens the door and when she sees it's Edgar, so looks at him curiously.

Then she notices the flowers. Perhaps they were going to be doing some sort of high-class function tonight and he needed her to wear flowers in her hair or something? ]

Edgar?

[ Lydia expected an explanation, after all. ]

Lydia. You look beautiful. [Of course she does, she always looks beautiful.

He smiles nervously as he hands her the flowers. He's done this dozens of times before, why is he so nervous?]

I thought you might like these.

[The're offered out but he's not moving closer, not even trying to take a step inside.]

[ Lydia doesn't immediately accept the flowers. In fact, though she looks a little flustered, her lips turn to a frown. Edgar has flirted before, he's always done whatever he pleased but flowers? What did he want now? ]

You don't need to flatter me to attempt to get me to help you, I'm already on board.

[ It had to be trying to gain her favor because she wasn't alright with the sword going to a fake, right? ]

[The flowers had been a stupid idea. With a quick smile, he decides to drop that hand and hold up the one with the covered cake.]

Then maybe you would like this better. I was promised it was delicious. [And he has asked.]

[ Well that's thoughtful. ]

Have you been reading up on fairies? That might actually be a great idea, Edgar. [ She smiles. Because fairies like little pieces of cake okay!! ]

An actual blush appears on his face as he looks away.]

I haven't. Perhaps it would be a...[He can say it, he can say it!]

[ This is actually a good technique, Edgar. Believing in fairies with her. It's something she can see common ground on. ]

Hm.. Do you have a thimble? If you leave small pieces of cakes and thimbles of honey on your window sill, there's a type of fairy that will come dance on your window sill and help with your gardening while you sleep.

He looks ashamed of himself as he shakes his head.]

No, I didn't think to bring one.

Hmm... [ Lydia looks thoughtful for a moment. He looks sincerely disappointed about that though, so she smiles comfortingly. It looks like he was really looking forward to trying to do something with fairies.. ]

That's alright. I think they might still like some cake, after all.

I'm still pretty full from dinner. Thank you, though.

[He had failed. The smile that he tries to force to his face does the same.]

Ah, I should have realized. I hope you accept the flowers, then.

Edgar, are you feeling alright?

I'm fine. [I'm an idiot. I should have brought something better. Now how was she supposed to spend time with her?]

[Oh! She notices him normally! Oh, how does he handle this.

A smile, larger than Edgar normally wears, brightens up his face, even if he no longer can figure out where to look.]

Lydia talks a step closer to him, raising her hand hesitantly, then settling it down on his forehead.

If he doesn't have a fever, it shouldn't be a problem, right..? ]

[Maybe he does have a fever. His face did suddenly look very, very flushed and his chest may be heaving a bit faster than it was a second ago. Maybe that was why he could do nothing but stare down at her, as if moving would break the moment instantly.]

[ Well, it seemed a little warm, but nothing like a fever. ]

I think you'll be okay. Perhaps you just need some rest.

[His heart was thumping but he did IT anyway. As she withdrew her hand, he reached out to brush it.]

If you get ill, it'll be problematic since Huskley might catch up to us. [ It's best to cut him off before he tries, right? ]

No. [The unsure look disappeared.] He won't catch up to us, even if I get too sickly to move. Huskley won't ever hurt you.

[If only he could be as confident about some other things.]
